Lake Rotoiti Primary School is a small, two class, school situated right on the edge of the Nelson Lakes National Park. The school draws its learners from a range of farming, Department of Conservation, hospitality and entrepreneurial backgrounds.
Currently (February 2022), there are 16 children on our school roll, with children in two home rooms. Junior (years 1-4) and Seniors (years 5-8). We often work collaboratively with classes sharing their expertise with each other.
Everyone at the school aims to make the most of the opportunities of being in this amazing location. We have close links with DOC and local people (eg. we have recently adopted a local DOC hut and are learning about the flora and fauna in the area). We also aim to integrate elements of the location into our curriculum so that the park and its surroundings become an extension of our school learning environment.
